As Trump Tweets ‘You Can’t Lose’ On Tariffs, The Dow Plunges Bigly

It was just last month that former reality show star Donald Trump declared that “trade wars are good” so he’s been busy lashing out while making the markets tumble. Then today, during his daily tweetstorm, Trump insisted that “When you’re already $500 Billion DOWN, you can’t lose!”

China responded to Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs with tariffs of their own that would hurt the so-called president’s base.

Twitler was very busy today.

Welp, the Dow Jones industrial average traded 42 points lower, falling 510 points, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq plunged as much as 1.6 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively, according to CNBC.

Trump is his worst enemy.

Trump takes credit for stock market gains but remains silent when it plunges.

On Wednesday, China unveiled a list of products worth $50 billion that are imported from the U.S. which will be subject to higher tariffs, including soybean, automobiles and chemical products.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said in response to Trump’s tariffs that he would put tariffs on Harley-Davidsons, blue jeans and, bourbon.

Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell isn’t a fan of tariffs.

“It was the old rhetorical shot across the bow,” McConnell told Courier-Journal. “He knows a little something about my state and a little something about (Paul) Ryan’s state.”

Just recently, McConnell was honored by the Kentucky Distiller’s Association for his hardline stance against tariffs, which he said could harm the state’s economy.

But, “you can’t lose,” said the serial bankruptcy filer who has no idea what he’s doing.
