CNN’s Acosta Fires Back In Republican War On The Media, Calls Trump Presser ‘Fake’

On Thursday, Donald Trump held a news conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda. In the lead-up to his trip, much of the reporting was on Poland’s promise to the US president that he would be welcomed by cheering crowds — no small feat, considering his low approval rating around the globe. But largely overlooked was the fact that the trip would feature Trump’s very first press Q&A on foreign soil. One American reporter, however, did not miss it, and he called Trump out on playing it just like he does at home:

No surprise there. Trump’s battle of wits against the American media is one of the most epic battles a president has ever waged against what he felt was “unfair” coverage. And to be extra fair to poor little Donnie, he’s definitely not the first president to hash it out with the press. Of course, prior such battles have not ended well: Nixon hated the media, and the media was his downfall. Lincoln shut down the press, but only because they literally were printing absolutely false stories, in the vein of Breitbart or Gateway Pundit. Notably, Trump has given press credentials to both of those agencies.

Acosta wasn’t done:

Acosta was referencing one of only two questions Trump took in the entire news conference, from the Daily Mail’s David Martosko, who has been in talks with the White House about a job:

The other came from MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson, who attempted to question Trump on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election before her mic was cut off.
