Like her boss Donald Trump, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders calls the Russia investigation “a hoax,” but is assuring the media that Special Counsel Robert Mueller won’t be getting a pink slip in his White House Christmas card.
During her Thursday interview with Bill Hemmer, host of Fox’s “American Newsroom,” Sanders attempted to quash any and all rumors that Trump wants to get rid of Mueller in the coming days.
“For the one-thousandth time, we have no intentions of firing Bob Mueller,” said Sanders, adding “We’re continuing to work closely and cooperating with him and we look forward to seeing this hoax wrap up very soon.”
Mind you, this comes from the person who lies as much as her boss, about everything no matter how large (the crowd) or small (the hands). Remember that chocolate pecan pie?
Sanders didn’t stop there. She went on to tell Hemmer that the hoax investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia was perpetuated by the Democrats to undermine the Trump presidency.
It’s not just Sanders who believes this to be true. Republicans in Congress are attempting to undermine the Russia investigation, attacking Mueller and his team for political bias. They’re even threatening to hold their own investigation of the special counsel and the FBI.
But while Trump and his sycophants do their best to stop the Russia investigation, Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, warned Trump on Wednesday not to interfere with the special counsel’s probe.
“Any attempt by this president to remove special counsel Mueller from his position, or to pardon key witnesses in an effort to shield them from accountability or shut down the investigation, would be a gross abuse of power and a flagrant violation of executive branch responsibilities and authorities,” Warner said in a floor speech.
