During a rally in Pennsylvania Friday evening, Donald Trump reiterated a suggestion he’s made on several occasions: Those who deal drugs should be executed, much as they are in China and Singapore:
“We catch a drug dealer, death penalty. That’s it.
“It’s a discussion we have to start thinking about. I don’t know if this country’s ready for it.”
So, on Fox & Friends Monday morning, the idiots who worship every word Trump speaks decided to debate the idea of killing anyone who is caught selling drugs. Trial attorney and legal analyst Randy Zelin said he was behind the president completely:
“What about the next Randy Zelin who did this?. How do we stop it? And it seems to me that perhaps the ultimate penalty, the ultimate deterrence is the only answer to getting our arms around what is happening in this country with drugs.”
When host Heather Childers tried to be more moderate and said it was her understanding that under Trump’s proposal, only dealers who spike their drugs with deadly substances would be eligible for the death penalty, Zelin doubled down and proved he what a soulless asshole he is, commenting:
“It’s the slippery slope argument. And it becomes where is the dividing line. It’s all about deterrence. It’s all about letting someone know — perhaps even at a young age — that if you do this, it’s not going to get you the Mercedes and the Rolex and the house and all of the fun stuff. It’s going to get a needle in your arm.”
Killing people at a young age as a deterrent? Really? Speaking of a slippery slope.
Zelin dialed up the hate and added:
“It’s that message that needs to be sent, that perhaps may be the only way not to make it so cool to be a drug dealer. Go ask someone in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, in Vietnam, where you’re automatically getting it.”
However, both Zelin and Trump always neglect to say if they would extend their death penalty idea to include the CEOs of companies that manufacture opioids which kill thousands of Americans each year. Since those same companies are giving millions in campaign contributions to Republicans, it seems doubtful they’d be included in the plan.
