House Oversight Committee Chairman Claps Back After Trump’s Attack On His District

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md) was Trump’s target during his morning tweetstorm, leaving ‘The Squad’ aside for the moment. Trump unleashed his attack before playing golf on Saturday, because of course.

Cummings has repeatedly criticized the Trump administration’s hardline immigration stance that includes separating children from their parents. Trump unleashed his mean-girl tweets just days after the Oversight Committee authorized subpoenas for records from the White House regarding aides’ use of personal email and text applications for official business. Oh, but her emails…

Trump called Cummings’ district “filthy” and a place “no human being would want to live.” He called the district a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”

Cummings fired back, saying that it is his “constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch,” and added that, “it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents.”

Cummings recently called the treatment of migrant children on the southern border “government-sponsored child abuse” and that could be one of the reasons Trump unleashed his rant this morning. But, the actual reason could be because the White House has refused to comply with document requests, claiming that they are infringing on executive branch privileges. Trump just doesn’t think that oversight should apply to his corrupt administration. If I recall, Hillary Clinton complied.

Also, Trump said we’re not allowed to criticize the U.S. or we should leave. I think that at this point, Trump should self-deport.
