Images: Couple Thrilled After Obama Accidentally Crashes Their Wedding

While President Obama was enjoying a golf outing Sunday afternoon in San Diego, he accidentally crashed a wedding at the country club where he was playing.

The Daily News reports:

Stephanie and Brian Tobe had been scheduled to wed at the Torrey Pines Golf Course and had been aware that the President would be finishing up his day on the green right before their big event was slated to begin.

But as the couple was getting ready for the ceremony to start, they were told that Obama was still on the last hole — “which happens to fall right in front of the ceremony site — as in, right behind the altar,” Jeff and Erin Youngren, who photographed the wedding, wrote on their blog.

“Jeff was with Brian and Stephanie, who were tucked away in their suite in the hotel with their families in preparation for the ceremony. They couldn’t go out on their balcony, so they pressed against the window, watching everything unfold below,” the photographers wrote on their blog.

“Then he finishes his game and goes down to the lawn area, which is where our ceremony was,” Stephanie Tobe, the bride, recalled to ABC News.

Obama stuck around to shake the hands of all 60 guests who had begun being seated.

Stephanie was waiting in a private suite, but she didn’t want to miss out on what she thought could be the wedding photo of a lifetime and a chance to shake the president’s hand.

“Once I heard that there might be an opportunity to even just say hi, shake his hand or even try to take a picture, we darted,” Tobe told ABC. “We ran to the closest elevator, got downstairs and I picked up my huge dress and I just started running across the lawn to get over to the President.”

Stephanie added, “It was so cool because all of our friends were screaming and cheering for us. They weren’t even looking at the president, they were looking at us. It was so exciting. And we just ran out across through the crowd and got up to the president and got to shake his hand.”

“As we were running out there, I started crying … It was an emotional experience and then to see the sitting president there was even wilder,” she said.

Brian, who is a doctor at the V.A., told ABC News, “Right when we saw him, Stephanie got to him first. And he said congrats to Stephanie right away. And at that moment he pointed out that my foot was actually on the train or the trail of her wedding dress on the ground and he said, I don’t remember his exact words, but he’s so relaxed, and he says nope, nope you know … you can’t step on the wedding dress.”

“I think it was our first marriage advice,” Brian said.

The president phoned the couple later and they chatted about the encounter while the newly married couple invited Obama to the reception.

Jeff Youngren, the couple’s wedding photographer, said he was “so taken aback by how kind the president was to our couple … it was amazing to see.”

“He has so much going on and so much stress … to see him just be so calm and gracious and kind to a couple on their wedding day … It made me really hopeful and excited, and just proud to have him as a leader,” Youngren said.

The realest president ever.

Cue the inevitable right wing outrage: Obama was playing golf!
