Donald Trump, who has deemed himself to be a master dealmaker, stormed out of a meeting at the White House with Democratic leaders on Wednesday. Trump met with Democrats to negotiate an end to his government shutdown, then called it a “total waste of time.” I’m starting to think that Mr. Art of the Deal isn’t that good at making deals after all. Trump threw a fit, slamming a table before walking out of the meeting, according to what Chuck Schumer told reporters.
On Friday, federal workers will not receive a paycheck. 800,000 American workers are now victims of Trump’s demand for $5.7 billion to fund his vanity-wall along the Southern border, the same wall the former reality show star vowed to his supporters that Mexico would pay for it.
Vice-president Mike Pence said that Trump “made clear today there will be no deal without a wall,” but Democrats were not going to give into the president’s demands.
“Just left a meeting with Chuck and Nancy, a total waste of time,” It tweeted. “I asked what is going to happen in 30 days if I quickly open things up, are you going to approve Border Security which includes a Wall or Steel Barrier? Nancy said, NO. I said bye-bye, nothing else works!”

“It’s cold out here and the temperature was not much warmer in the Situation Room,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters outside of the White House.
“The president stomped out of the meeting when he said to me, ‘Will you support a wall?’ And I said no,” Pelosi said. “Now they’re trying to mischaracterize what he actually said. But that’s par for the course with going to the White House.”
“You cannot come to a conclusion if the president of the United States says ‘my way or the highway, there’s nothing to negotiate, either agree with me or it’s over.'”
Schumer said Trump “sort of slammed the table” in the Situation Room and just walked out as the negotiations fell apart.
“He couldn’t get his way and he just walked out of the meeting,” Schumer said.
Republicans, including Mike Pence, are blaming Democrats, however, and call me crazy, but it seems to me that Trump should be negotiating with Mexico instead of holding this country hostage. Trump’s lies are catching up with him as Democrats are holding his feet to the fire.
“The president made clear he is going to stand firm to achieve his priorities,” Pence told reporters while standing alongside GOP leaders.
On Friday, this will become the longest government shutdown in history.
