An Alabama musician who penned a disgusting anti-immigrant rant on Facebook just found out that there are consequences for threatening to shoot migrant families who are crossing the border.
Birmingham guitarist Phillip McCain is now losing work and has been thrown out of his band, Buck Wild. So far, three venues have canceled his gigs so now he says he “misspoke” (LOL) when he said that he will “volunteer to shoot their a**es when they approach the border. Problem solved. No more illegal f*cks coming in here. Period.”
Sure, that’s a total misspeak. So, he continued misspeaking.
“I don’t give a s**t about them, their kids, their s****y life or asylum,” he wrote, according to AL.com. “I care about American kids and American families. You’ve got to be a complete idiot to not get it, but then again we are talking about the libtard agenda. Liberalism is a mental disorder and I’m d**n sure glad that I’m not dumb s**t.”
Here is dumb Phillip’s misspeak, in full:
Philip McCain thinks it’s okay to harm innocent children. He’s a musician https://t.co/0RVSCjNT0w and this is NOT right. This is a threat. #KeepFamiliesTogether #FreeTheChildren pic.twitter.com/fevPoYZxgY

After a backlash, McCain tweeted that he said those vile, disgusting things because he loves this country so much.

McCain claims his words, which are quoted verbatim in a screenshot, were taken out of context.
UPDATE: I just spoke w/ Phillip McCain on the phone & he says he has been kicked out of his band & had 3 solo shows canceled in response to his Facebook post, which he claims was “taken out of context” but does represent his “America first” views https://t.co/Ruj7ooOBkm

The response on Twitter was fierce.
You may have seen a recent screengrab where Phillip McCain expresses his willingness to shoot asylum seekers at the border. If not, here it is. I also thought it might be helpful to put a face to the name, to know who we’re dealing with, so here’s a headshot from Phil’s website. pic.twitter.com/tlx0G46X5W

Nah. By the looks of your timeline, I’m pretty sure you chose your words appropriately.
Best of luck on salvaging whatever sham of a career you have/had. I’m sure The Nooge or Kid Rock would be happy for you to open for them.

@AppleMusic You should remove Phillip McCain’s music from your catalogue given what he says about murdering immigrants.

Phillip McCain blamed the response on “people’s unwillingness to listen ‘the truth’ as he defines it.” https://t.co/k0Z5cS4C5G

The now-out-of-work guitarist said that he was only expressing his opinion and he just wants to protect the United States’ borders at any cost.
One of the venues that canceled McCain’s gig is a Mexican restaurant whose manager is an immigrant and says the clientele there is diverse. McCain told AL.com that not only did he lose his job with the band, but also $3,000 in future performance fees and three solo shows.
McCain, who retweets Hannity and Trump regularly, made his Facebook page private or deactivated it. McCain’s post comes at a time when Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy has been inundating the news, with migrant children being separated from their parents.
Enjoy flipping burgers, Phillip. Your music career is over. After listening to his music, I’m surprised he was ever offered a gig.
