Right-wing filmmaker James O’Keefe revealed in his new book, “American Pravda: My Fight for Truth in the Era of Fake News,” that President* Trump as much as ordered him in 2013 to investigate Barack Obama’s student records.
Trump, who has long accused our last legitimate President of being a student from Kenya who registered as a foreign student during his time at Columbia, was so determined to legitimize his obsession with President Obama that he attempted to get O’Keefe to take a break from faking “baby parts” videos or whatever he was doing at the time to help with the Obama issue.
O’Keefe’s “film production” company, Project Veritas, has been successfully sued by a number of his smear campaign victims, often resulting in hefty fines for the aspiring propagandist. In one case, O’Keefe was actually convicted of entering a federal building with the intent of committing a felony (installing wiretaps on Senator Mary Landrieu’s phone lines) and given a suspended sentence and extensive community service.
According to O’Keefe, Trump “suspected Obama had presented himself as a foreign student on application materials to ease his way into New York’s Columbia University, maybe even Harvard too, and perhaps picked up a few scholarships along the way.”
“‘Nobody else can get this information,'” O’Keefe says Trump told him. “‘Do you think you could get inside Columbia?'” The right-wing filmmaker ultimately told Trump that he and his crew of unethical trashbags maybe a lot of things but this doesn’t fit into their “line of work” because they are not “private eyes.”
At the end of the meeting, O’Keefe says “Trump shook my hand, encouraged me to keep up the good work, and half-whispered, ‘Do Columbia.'”
Trump subsequently donated $10,000 to Project Veritas in May of 2015.
O’Keefe did not “do Columbia” but Trump’s obsession with President Obama persists today.
