Roy Moore (R-SC) borrowed a page from Donald Trump’s playbook yesterday by filing a voter fraud allegation with the Alabama election commission to delay certification of his opponent Doug Jones’ victory. Check out CNN’s coverage to hear it from Cowboy Roy himself.
Moore’s Facebook page contains the full text of the complaint.
As justification, Moore cites three “Election integrity experts” including Richard Charnin, whom he touts as having “three degrees in applied mathematics” and the author of “four books on election fraud.” Here they are:
The JFK book “proves” mathematically that the 1963 assassination was a conspiracy. The Matrix book “proves” mathematically that state and federal elections from 1988 to 2008 were rigged by “systematic election fraud beyond any doubt.” You get the picture.
In any case, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, himself a Republican, affirmed today that Moore’s claims are unsubstantiated and, in his words:
It is not going to delay certification and Doug Jones will be certified [Thursday] at 1 p.m. and he will be sworn in by Vice President Pence on the third of January.
See for yourself:
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota: “Do Roy Moore’s claims of election fraud have any merit?”
Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill: “The short answer to that is no. Doug Jones will be certified today” https://t.co/ZXkfcsTrAq https://t.co/pQxRhhhYJ7

Moore’s flagrantly desperate move is almost certainly meant to justify and bolster his “election integrity fund,” from whose coffers he’s no doubt paying Charnin, the other “experts,” and other equally unhinged proponents.
Even Donald Trump called for Moore to concede; watch:

Come on, Roy: if Trump says it, it must be a no-brainer.
