This Democrat Just Tore Ted Cruz Into Little Pieces On The Senate Floor Over Trump’s Shutdown

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) loved the 2013 government shutdown over opposition to the Affordable Care Act, but suddenly, he’s for Trump’s shutdown. Colorado Democrat Michael Bennet took to the Senate floor on Thursday and called Cruz out, then noted how ridiculously stupid this shutdown is over the medieval wall that Trump wants to be constructed along the Southern border.

Cruz claimed that Democrats refuse to give into Trump’s demands because they hate him.

“Okay, they hate Donald Trump,” Cruz said, referring to Democrats. “If anyone in America had missed that point, that they really, really don’t like this man, their yelling, screaming, and bellowing has made that abundantly clear.”

“But just because you hate somebody shouldn’t mean you should shut the government down,” Cruz continued. The Texas Republican went on to blame Democrats for the government remaining shuttered.

Watch:

Bennet wasn’t having any of it.

“I have worked very hard over the years to work in a bipartisan way with the presiding officer with my Republican colleagues, but these crocodile tears that the senator from Texas is crying for first responders are too hard for me to take,” Bennet said.

“When the senator from Texas shut this government down in 2013, my state was flooded,” he continued. “It was under water! People were killed! People’s houses were destroyed! Their small businesses were ruined forever! Because of the senator from Texas, this government was shut down for politics.”

At that time, floods besieged Colorado, devastating the state just one month before the 2013-Cruz shutdown began.

“How ludicrous it is that this government is shut down over a promise the president of the United States couldn’t keep—and America is not even interested in having him keep,” Bennet said.

Watch:

Trump vowed for years that Mexico would pay for the wall and now, he wants us, the taxpayers, the fund it. The former reality show star’s approval rating is plummeting as the shutdown leaves American workers without a paycheck.

Cruz and his Republican colleagues cannot blame Democrats after their president said, with cameras rolling, that he would be ‘proud’ to shut the government down and would take responsibility for it.
