Trump Continues Attack On CNN Even After A Supporter Threatens To Shoot Network’s Employees

One of Donald Trump’s favorite expressions is “fake news.” He’s especially fond of using it when referring to CNN because the news network refuses to kiss his fat ass the way Fox “News” does.

But now it appears Trump’s comments about CNN may have led directly to a series of death threats made by a Michigan man who said he was going to gun down CNN employees.

Brandon Griesemer has been arrested for making 22 calls to CNN headquarters in Atlanta. In the calls, which were recorded and turned over to the FBI, Griesemer said:

  • “Fake news. I’m coming to gun you all down.”
  • “I’m smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to get gunned down in a matter of hours.”
  • “I am coming to Georgia right now to go to the CNN headquarters to fucking gun every single last one of you.”

Griesemer was charged Friday in US District Court with transmitting interstate communications with the intent to extort and threat to injure. He was released on $10,000 bond. If found guilty, he faces a fine or up to five years in prison if convicted.

In a statement, CNN commented on the arrest of the Michigan man:

“We take any threats to CNN employees or workplaces, around the world, extremely seriously. This one is no exception. We have been in touch with local and federal law enforcement throughout, and have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of our people.”

But despite these violent threats to CNN, Donald Trump was up early on Tuesday, using some of the same language used by Griesemer as he tweeted:

Trump’s reckless use of derogatory terms for members of the news media have already led one person to threaten violence against a news network, and yet he continues to attack the press at every turn. A lawless head of state who advocates mayhem is a threat to the very foundations of justice and freedom this country stands for.
