Donald Trump was a two-time chump in the Alabama Senate race for the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, who is now Trump’s Attorney General. First, he endorsed the establishment candidate hand-picked by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Luther Strange, who had been appointed temporarily by the Governor of Alabama when Sessions became Attorney General. Then Strange was bested by Roy Moore, the man accused of molesting teenage girls, and who has been a non-stop source of controversy throughout his career as first a district attorney and then a judge in Alabama. Of course, Moore was a bridge too far even for many Republicans, and he lost to Democrat Doug Jones.
Of course, Trump, who is never able to admit a mistake or failure, is blaming everyone but himself for the loss of a Senate seat to a Democrat in a state where no one with a (D) next to her or his name should have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting elected to any office, even dog catcher. Now, Trump’s latest target with regards to the Alabama situation is none other than the man who vacated that seat in the first place, Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
According to The Hill, Trump blames Sessions for the loss for a most curious reason: Because Sessions dared to accept Trump’s nomination to become Attorney General. Obviously, this makes no sense. Loathe as I am to defend the racist elf that we now call the Attorney General, this is in no way Sessions’ fault. He’d still be sitting in the Senate if Trump himself hadn’t nominated him.
Face it, you orange asshole — you nominated Sessions because he was loyal to you when others thought you little more than a joke and because you thought that seat would be safe. Unfortunately for you and all the alt-right assholes who support you, most of the nation – even in Alabama – sees what you are doing to the country, and we want a check on you in the Congress. Doug Jones is just the first step toward dismantling your toxic, dangerous excuse for a presidential administration.
