Twitter Goes Bonkers After The Pentagon Retweets A Post Calling On Trump To Resign

Not long ago, you may recall, it was reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had called Donald Trump a “fucking idiot.” Tillerson never actually denied that he’d used those words, and it started a debate as to whether or not anyone in Trump’s administration has the least bit of respect for him.

Well, consider that Thursday afternoon this tweet was posted on the account of Proud Resister:

Hey, what’s not to like about that? But a few minutes later, that same tweet was retweeted by the Pentagon’s official Twitter account. They later deleted it, but thankfully we have proof in the form of a screenshot:

Awkward! How does the Pentagon account for this embarrassing (but totally righteous) call on the pretend president to resign? The DOD issued a statement saying an “authorized operator” of the account “erroneously re-tweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense.”

And yet, just a few minutes later, another spokesperson for the Pentagon felt the need to reiterate the first statement:

Hmm…methinks they doth protest too much. And lots of other Twitter users agree:

The only real surprise is that Trump didn’t decide to re-tweet it, too.

Note to our readers: Please share/tweet our articles. Trump supporting trolls targeted our site’s account and reported it en masse, without cause. This triggered a seemingly automatic suspension. Twitter support has failed to address this issue. Thank you!
