Social media has so many great purposes! When used appropriately, it can be a great medium through which old friends can reconnect, loved ones may keep in touch/stay current on what’s going on in one another’s lives, businesses are able to advertise, etc. However, because bullies will be bullies and social media sometimes only expands their reach/ability to do so, a lot of bad, mean, and hurtful things have also played out before our eyes on social media.
A case of social media gone horribly wrong is currently in Cleveland, OH. Details are still emerging, but what’s known now is that Cleveland police are engaged in a manhunt for Steve Stephens – brown male standing 6’1″ and weighing 244 pounds, Stephens has a full beard and stands accused of multiple homicides, one of which he recorded and posted via facebook live.
According to police, Stephens posted what appears to be a homicide on facebook, but no other victims have been found as of yet.
Still unclear as to the depths of Stephens crimes, Cleveland Police enlisted the help of social media users by posting the following tweet:
SHOOTING UPDATE: Suspect vehicle is a white Ford Fusion with temp tag Wanted male still armed and dangerous https://t.co/c2Ypm1i5qx

As for a motive, police can only go on what Stephens’ mother, Maggie Green, has said. According to Ms. Green, she spoke to her son on Sunday. He told her he was:
“. . .mad with his girlfriend that’s why he is shooting people and he won’t stop until his mother or girlfriend tell him to stop.”
Ms. Green says she begged her son to stop and is upset and in a state of shock. Beyond his mother’s words, police have not released a motive.
Ironically, Stephens is listed as an employee at a behavioral health agency in northeast Ohio that serves children, teenagers, and families.
Video of Stephens’ horrific crime is too graphic and heinous to show, but is captured here.
